This month, our recognition goes to Álvaro Benito Martín, a fellow participant in the International Professional Sommelier Course organized by the International School of Cuisine in Valladolid.

Throughout the course, Álvaro stood out for his positive attitude, his commitment to learning, and his wonderful spirit of camaraderie.

However, what makes him especially deserving of this recognition is that, once the course had finished, he decided that learning should not end there. He was the driving force behind an initiative that is both simple and extraordinary: continuing to learn and grow together through visits to wineries.

Thanks to his energy, determination, and organizational skills, he began coordinating visits that have allowed us to discover firsthand some of the most interesting wineries in our area. For those of us working in the world of sommellerie, these experiences are invaluable. Seeing the vineyards, understanding the work carried out in the field, discovering the winemaking processes, and talking to the people who bring each project to life allows us to understand wine from a much deeper and more authentic perspective.

Beyond the technical knowledge we gain, these visits have also become a wonderful opportunity to share experiences, exchange knowledge, and strengthen the bonds of friendship that were formed during our training. To date, we have visited around twenty-five wineries and, fortunately, this adventure will continue over the coming months.

It has not always been easy. On some occasions, the number of participants has been small, and the effort required to organize each visit could have seemed disproportionate. However, Álvaro has never lost his enthusiasm or his commitment to the initiative. His perseverance has been key to helping the project continue to grow and to keeping alive the spirit of learning that brought us together in the first place.

These visits have also had a very positive impact in other areas. Thanks to them, Catas Divertidas has discovered new wines and products that fit perfectly into the format of its tastings, introducing new offerings that enrich the participants’ experience and continually expand what we have to offer.

But beyond all of this, I would like to highlight something much more personal. Spending time with Álvaro is always a pleasure. He is one of those people who can share his passion for wine in a natural and infectious way. His enthusiasm, curiosity, and desire to learn turn every visit, every conversation, and every shared glass of wine into an opportunity to discover something new.

For all these reasons, we would like to express our most sincere gratitude. Thank you, Álvaro, for your effort, dedication, and generosity. Thank you for showing us that education does not end when a diploma is handed over, but continues every day through curiosity, commitment, and the desire to keep learning.

This recognition is truly well deserved.
