The prize for October goes to… Bodegas Figuero!
This month, our award heads to La Horra, in the province of Burgos, to celebrate a winery that has made a particularly lasting impression on us: Bodegas Figuero.
At Catas Divertidas, we believe that enjoying wine is about more than just tasting it. For us, it is essential to get to know the winery, walk through its vineyards, discover how they work, talk to the people behind each bottle and, of course, taste the wines right where they are made. Only in this way can we gain a much more complete understanding of everything that goes into a wine.
One of the visits we make almost every week took us to Bodegas Figuero. From the very first moment, we discovered that, beyond being a leading winery specialising in the production of exceptional red wines, there is something that makes it even more special: the people behind this family-run business.
We met practically all the members of the family, tasted loads of wines — we certainly didn’t hold back! — got a close-up look at how they work and, above all, they made us feel right at home.
And when we say ‘right at home’, we really mean it. They treated us to a meal that was simply unbeatable, and we even ended up singing a few songs!
It was one of those days that stays with you. A day when the warmth, friendliness and generosity of our hosts completely won us over.

What’s more, at Catas Divertidas we’ve added El Asomo to our wine tastings and the results have been excellent. It’s a wine that’s proving extremely popular and which also offers fantastic value for money.
We hope to continue working with Bodegas Figuero for many, many years to come. Because there are names which, when you hear them, automatically bring back fond memories.
And to be honest, every time we read or hear the word ‘Figuero’, it brings a smile to our faces.
