No, we´re not about to open a restaurant.
What you have in your hands – or what you can download in this blog – is a fictional project that is part of a course I am currently taking. As a wine enthusiast and a restless explorer of ways of communicating this passion, I was asked to design a wine list as if it were part of the gastronomic proposal of an imaginary restaurant.
This list is neither commercial nor currently associated with Catas Divertidas, but what if it serves as inspiration?
Perhaps it can spark ideas if you work in the restaurant or hospitality industry, or indeed any project in which wine plays a starring role.
The structure of this list follows a geographical journey that starts at home in Salamanca, highlighting its most valuable wine regions: Sierra de Salamanca and Arribes. From there, it expands into Castilla y Léon, the rest of Spain, and the so-called “New World”. ”. In each region, I have tried to include an authentic and representative selection, combining classic choices with more original and unexpected ones, from submarine wines to rancio or kosher wines.
I wanted to give a prominent place to rosé wine – often unjustly underrated – and to balance out the presence of reds, whites, sweet and sparkling wines. There´s also no shortage of orujas, grappa or sakes, to top off the experience on a more original note.
This project is a love letter to wine and all the stories it can tell. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
